Radiant Floor Heating

Radiant Heating

Heating in your home can come from unexpected sources – your floors, baseboards, and the ground! No matter how high you crank up the heat during cold weather, you may notice some rooms are just not warm enough to keep you comfortable. Installing a radiant heating system is a great and affordable way to keep your entire home warm enough year-round. Argent Heating & Cooling provides radiant heating installation in Northern Virginia. Our certified heating technicians will install the right radiant heating system in your home to ensure you and your family stay warm. We offer radiant floor heating, baseboard heating, geothermal heating, and solar thermal heating systems!

Radiant Floor Heating

In winter or during the colder first few days of spring, stepping onto a tile or hardwood floor with bare feet may feel like walking on snow. A radiant floor heating system can resolve this! Radiant floor heating is made of plastic tubing and is installed under your flooring. These tubes are powered by either air, electricity, or hot water. Radiant floor heating is usually installed in sections so you can have different rooms set to different temperatures. You may wish to install radiant floor heating in your kitchen to make it an even more comforting space. Or, put radiant heating in your hallways so your family will always be comfortable passing from room to room.

Baseboard Heating

Baseboard heating is an alternate method if your main heating system simply isn’t heating certain rooms to your liking. Baseboard heating, instead of being installed under your floor boards, is installed in your baseboards. Baseboard heating units are usually powered by electricity or hot water. Baseboard heating units will take a up a little bit of space in each room, but these are designed to be thin and discreet so you can enjoy being warm without seeing a bulky heating unit in the room.

Geothermal and Solar Thermal Heating

Geothermal systems use the natural heat coming from the ground to heat and cool your home. In the winter, heat from the ground is transferred into your heat pump to warm your home and in the summer, the ground heat is converted to cool air via refrigeration. A geothermal system has a lot of benefits: customers receive a 30% federal tax credit, the system easily pays for itself over time, and the system is healthy for the environment! Another green option is Solar Thermal Heating. This system uses a glass solar panel to collect the sun’s energy. A vent allows for air to heat up behind the glass solar panel and the unit fan pushes the warm air into a room. While it might not be an option for your entire house, it is a great alternative to supplemental and space heating. Not only that, but you can reduce your heating bills and your carbon footprint!

The Benefits of Radiant Heating

No matter which system you choose, radiant heating will overall make your home warmer in colder months and cooler in warmer months while still being cost-effective and maintaining energy efficiency. Each of these heating systems is controllable just like a thermostat, meaning you can set each individual room to your ideal comfort level. These heating units can also easily be turned off when you do not need them, so you don’t have to worry about them making your rooms too warm in summer.
